You do not need a computer if you are a Jammer. The best thing for A Jammer is a tablet of some sort.

For the Jam Location Coordinator a computer is highly recommended. Many tasks are easily done with a mouse & keyboard. Some tasks are rather difficult without those.

Dotting: Creating a dotted song is done using Word or a Word compatible program. This is much easier to do on a computer.
